Sterilization procedures
I believe some efforts are made to sterilize probes that are intended to land on Mars, but it may become necessary to do so with probes intended only to orbit Mars, just in case of accidents. Look at the effort they went to to avoid the remote possibility of Galileo crashing on Europa.
