The only person who has verified his existence is Peter Maass:
big surprise... a foreign reporter
So this guy is working for Maass and he "exists" - that describes every jerk that went over there as a reporter.
His English is not Iraqi British English even if he were foreign educated. He is American educated and not just educated he has to have spent decades here to assimilate the nuances. He could be Peter Maass for all we know.
It's a fraud. His writing style is typical journalist BS - mix sugar with salt - mix praise with slander. It's BS from top to bottom and could be written by any journalist who went to Iraq before the war started.
Show me "Salam Pax" - let me see a birth certificate and let him speak for himself in front of the camera.
The guy is either with the NYT as a freelancer or is a jerk who is their gopher. He has access to their internet connection and cameras and developing equipment. That he was quickly picked up by the Guardian is even more evidence that this guy is just a undercover reporter orchestrating one hell of a deception so as to feed the propaganda war.
If he is an "Iraqi" he was born in America and took Iraqi citizenship. Everything points to the fact that this guy is full of it from top to bottom. Maass say he studied in Vienna - unfortunately they don't speak or teach "Americanized" English in Vienna and even hanging around NYT reporters for almost a year couldn't create the Salam Pax rhetoric.
It's amazing what the internet can do.
But I am surprised that people haven't read this guy's columns and realized he is as Iraqi as Santa Claus or Vin Diesel.
He's getting a heckuva laugh that's for sure. Like most NYT reporters lying and fraud while reporting are inborn character traits and making up stories to fit the agenda is par for the course.
