Lindy, I was harsh and dismissive. I apologize.

Remainder of this post is probably way too much information so stop here if you like...

I have a sister who does not take care of herself. She is addicted to shark cartilidge, echinacia, anti-oxidents, St. John's wort, etc. She has a cupboard of 20 or 30 suplements she takes every day without fail, and claims that she can't live without. Also dusty boxes of bottles of stuff that has fallen out of favor with her. She is always late on rent and hungry and keeps as much credit card debt as those companies will let her have. She is only trustworthy to keep her medicine cabinet full of crap, and her dog (who she values as highly as her supplements) fed.

She is also big on government conspiracies, corporate corruption, polution, conventional medical treatments, etc. as being the cause of all her problems.

I periodically bail her out of the worst of her difficulties, but her self-destructive behavior never changes. She is too nuts to live with, yet I love her. It is a frustrating part of my life, that I don't always deal with very well.

I reacted to your post with emotion that came from a recent phone call to my sister. Again, I'm sorry about that.

PS: I certainly know and agree with you that we are drastically changing the environment we live in. And that we are full of stuff that humans were not designed to contain. I agree that we should look before we leap - as opposed to the conservative belief that looking first is too expensive. I'm sure that on a lot of things, you and I are on exactly the same page.
