I'm hoping for the best, but planning for the worst.
Seems reasonable and prudent to me.
I'm an enthusiastic supporter of the new initiative, but you're right...so far, we're short on specifics, so no one really knows how far or how well this'll fly.
But imo, even in these early stages it deserves our support...more than that, it needs our support or it'll die on the vine at the hands of people who would strangle it with a smile on their face. And then, we'll never know what could have come of it.
As Larry suggests, if this plan is met with apathy and ridicule from the very people who've been cheering for humanity to break out of LEO, how many decades will pass before a politician publically utters the word "space" again?
This initiative needs a chance to grow. The plans need to get off the napkin, as it were, or we'll simply never know what it could have meant to us. Can't we let the engineers have a chance to amaze us before we yawn and turn away?
