If any of you are watching Enterprise you know that this season is devoted to foiling a plot by another race to destroy Earth with a doomsday weapon. They have already killed more than 7 million in a test run.
Over the course of the season they have from time to time captured people that have knowlege that will assist them in eliminating the threat. The subject of torture has come up a couple of times and in spite of the gravity of the threat (Earth totally destroyed) physical torture has been eschewed.
They have gone to extraordinary lengths by threatening death, messing with minds and some gory use of non-harmful props like blood worms inserted into the body as a fear tactic.
The point is, physical torture and the taking of life is against natural law and cannot be delegated to government. The only valid stance is total opposition, regardless of the emotions we feel.
This is how I believe and how I vote but don't leave me alone in a room with one of the bastards.

- Once you start doing that, no self-respecting garbage can will accept your body. Plus, it almost never gets the victim back alive. Plus, the guy has not been convicted yet. etc. (n/t)

- An unusual situation
- I think it would be more cruel to leave a victim abandoned somewhere.
- There is absolutely no evidence that anyone would be saved by allowing brutality to become ensconced in our legal system.
- And if the police have 10 suspects?
- I think it would be more cruel to leave a victim abandoned somewhere.
