About mars-derived life: We have a sample of one. For me, that's not nearly enough to form an opinion around.

About life on mars, at all: There's the darn near certainty that earth life crashed into mars numerous times. Did it ever crash in a time and place that would let it survive? If it ever did, then I am with you: life changes itself to survive in niches that takes us stupid earthlings forever to find.
