Those brave Americans were fighting for the communist side against the right wing fascist Francisco Franco. They were trying to bring liberty and freedom to a nation under the boot of a tyrant.

It should also be noted what they were doing was against US law. So were they criminals? Patriots? Left-wing zealots? Commie Pinkos?

Since you brought it up, your take would be most interesting.
