I found God when I was young, and it was pounded into me throughout my elementary years. It took looking at the planet as it truly is for me to lose God, and I've not found him anywhere since -- other than in the sciences. He makes a damn fine argument there.
The reference to "finding God" was directed at Bush and his life choices, not mine, nor do I believe in any way that you must "find God" to make the right decisions. Logic works, but is heartless, so you just have to temper your choices (AKA be nice).
When you're "Born Again", you become a bit of an evangelist, and start judging others. Telling others what they should do.
That's kinda funny, Lindy, as just about everyone here has advised just about everyone else here how they should/should not think. It's human nature, and it comes out as dialogue. If we all agreed, we'd have nothing to say about anything. As we do not, we go on and on about why we might not always be right and the other guy wrong, but why we are more right about something than someone else, and it's all a simple matter of outlook.
And the Born Agains aren't the anti-whatever, Lindy. Sure, they can be bothersome, but it boils down to personal traits. A Born Again who has a lick of couresy can be no more troubling than a friendly neighbor who doesn't mind bantering phylosophies at the side fence, as with the late, great Earl Hindman (AKA Wilson W. Wilson Jr. from TV's Home Improvement).
Secondly, I found it amusing you brought up ufos in your answer. For someone who hangs around the space board, you must be INTERESTED in life out there. Yet, your snide remarks tell me you'd have a real shock to your paradigm if you found out we were not alone....
My quest for ETI is serious, not sci-fi. As such, I am very interested in space exploration, and equally interested in sci-fi. And my remarks were only perceived by you as snide because of your own personal visitations, and my failing to believe in them -- at least not as earnestly as you seem to. Now, are you insisting that you would not be shocked if an ETI knocked on your door and came in for a cup of coffee? Most real worlders, I think, would be.
And then you said this: " I still think there are few here who really, truly care."
I'm not sure what you mean by this. Care to clarify it, so I can respond appropriately?
Observe the word "still", then refer to my previous post:
re: Ancient history . . .
He was also a useless, coke-addicted drunk -- but then nobody in Lindyland is ever allowed to change?
Clinton never inhaled. Maybe Bush never -- well...
X^D
Who really cares, Lindy?
Cheers,
Dan
