I wasn't going to weigh in here, but I was brought up in culture where I was reasonably safe. The derelicts and molesters were easily spotted and neighbourhoods were safe from them.
Pornography was hidden and not celebrated. I can remember when they banned the Dave Clark Five's song "Glad All Over" because there was a reference there that the critics deemed unsavory. I remember when Elvis was on TV that you could only see him from the waist up, because his gyrations were considered too hot for TV. And I grew up with "Leave it to Beaver" and "Father Knows Best".
I have watched the MEDIA sell it's wares for profit and get increasingly liberal with it's broadcasting. I have watched movies get their ratings changed, while violence in movies becomes a profit-making experience.
It's hard to find "good taste" any more in films, although there have been some remarkable movies over the years. Rap music is culturally driven. I don't like watching guys grab their crotches. They may as well be giving me the middle finger. And Howard Stern goes to the lowest levels for his entertainment and I won't miss him. Frankly, I find him disgusting.
He'll show up on HBO where he belongs.
Do I miss the old days? Nah, my morality was in place long before the 80's, 90's or the new millenium came into being. I see how my kids re-act to it though, and because they were brought up properly, THEIR morals are in place. But not every kid is so lucky.
After the negative shenanigans at the Super Bowl, I am sure society as a whole is in decline. Just like the last days of Rome.
No, the 50's morality isn't coming back. But you'll hear a few of us moaning it's passing.
