In the 50's they were scared of cultural corruption too and the thought of trying to manage those corrupt teens was a frightening thought to some. The difference was the language compared to what we are subject to today.
I admit to not knowing the context of most Rap lyrics and don't know if the graphic ones are aired on free radio. I do think that some Rap should not be aired on the free media, but that won't slow any type of cultural virus infecting morals.
I remember my english teacher in high school who decided to explore the meaning of lyrics and album covers of rock n roll during the mid 60's to the current year 1970. She finally got my full attention and I thought the subject was daring of her. She ended up teaching us more than we imagined and I came away with much respect for rock n roll song writers.
I wonder how Rap would hold up to the scrutiny in a class room? That is, if you could allow it. I would think that a lot of females would be steaming after digesting some lyrics.
Awareness and understanding is what counts for the forever changing culturals and moral challenges.
