re: I had the same question, apparently not.

My question was how much will the coordinates of Jupiter, as predicted by VSOP87 planetary theory, be affected by the impact of the comet Shoemaker-Levy?

Also, why do I have to use Universal Coordinated Time (UTC) to get correct solutions from VSOP87 planetary theory, when the documentation indicates that Dynamical Time (TDB) should be used, i.e. Julian Ephemeris Day (JDE)? And indeed, why is 12h TDB indicated in the solution check file, when it is actually GMT that is 12h out of phase with UTC? If I used TDB as defined by Meeus would my results be incorrect, or more accurate?

I tried to contact the authors at the Bureau des Longitudes in France, but they may not be there anymore, after all, VSOP87 was compiled in 1987. Presently, I am assuming that VSOP87, intended for a 4000 year span before and after the Julian epoch (J2000) has the same accuracy as JPL's DE403 planetary theory, which is used only for 1900-2100 AD. But since DE403 was prepared in 1998, I am also assuming that it is defined with more modern terminology and should be given higher priority (consider the time reference definition problems of VSOP87).
