Might want to hold on to that crow, otherwise it might get served to you

I just heard 2 democrats who sat on the committe to which that classified testimony was given. They said, more or less, that if the etire record was declassified, that Clarke had nothing to worry about. In fact they said, more or less and in public: "Do it, declassify it!" I think they would be simply silent on the issue if the testimony would hand Clarke.

Meanwhile- Frist seems to be baking away from his remarks on the floor at a very rapid rate.

Also, recall: Kerry is a very powerful, very Sr. Senator. He has also said, more or less: "Just try to bring charges and make them stick!" with respect to the charges that Clarke lied under oath.

Given the confidence level of the people who could be publically hung for openly defending Clarke, and given their seniority in the Senate, I don't think you should be so quick to assume Clarke is lying or contradicting himself.

My guess is, that this will be pressed just enough publically to set out the implication that Clarke lied to the senate- in a few days, it will mysteriously evaporate and there won't be any declassified material coming forth, nor any more offical calls for it. This is nothing dressed in the clothing of legitamacy, bound to be wisked out of the public eye before it turns into a pumpkin.
