I see nothing wrong with investigating alternatives, but when an alternative medicine has been shown to be garbage it is an intellectual crime to keep promoting it... magnet 'therapy' is an excellent example- it is junk science, garbage sold to the ignorant... I pulled a muscle in my back about a year ago- I went to a store to get a heating pad- one of the kind that heats up upon exposure to oxygen- they ony carried pads with magnets- I couldnt buy it- ended up going to another store to get a cheaper non-magnetic pad...
Idiots are buying magnetic insoles for their shoes, and mattress pads that have magnets in them... The only study that I have seen that indicated magnetism could possibly treat anything was a study showing that STRONG alternating magnetic fields could kill malaria parasites- but at least in that study they had a logical physical mechanism to explain it....
I get so annoyed seeing junk science being sold to the desperate and ignorant- Remember the 'Q-RAY' bracelet that magically 'balanced your energy' and cured just about any ailment you might have? And then there is recovered memory therapy, and no end of other garbage...
I guess 'intelligent' people might believe in such nonsense, but not educated people... we need to start teaching critical thinking in school....
