I think you probably want to accuse me of drawing a false implication (that if corporations don't pay taxes, then it is the case that welathy don't pay taxes), though it isn't one I intended to draw, just one you want to believe I am drawing.
The oft stated comment from the right is that "the Wealthy and Corporations pay all the taxes in america", and I grant you that my link only speaks to corporations. Never claimed otherwise.
And yep- you guessed it! I am against Kerry in this issue (in fact, I don't like him in general and don't want him to be president). The false implication that you are drawing is that if you oppose bush then you grovel at the feet of Kerry. Maybe it works that way for you and your politics, but not mine.
"so it's easy to blame the "evil corporations" for ripping off the little guys "
Your words, your inference Larry- not mine.
really, Larry: if you are going to open a post with the accusations of rhetorical fallacy, then you should avoid them yourself.
"50% of wage earners pay 95% of the income taxes"
Now this is interesting. This actually is a strawman case. 50% of americans are not "wealthy" 50% of income tax payers are not wealthy.
Its also lying with statistics:
37% of federal income comes from payroll taxes, so even if you are right about income, its less than 2/3rds of the total tax reciepts.
And who do you think pays a higher percentage of their income in payroll taxes? Hmm? You got it! The least well-off 50%!!!!
What you have done is you have selectively sliced out the piece of the tax pie that is primarily shouldered by everyone equally and then crow and piss and mone and whine about how unfair the piece of the pie that is left is.
Hehhe. I bet you got that statistic from Rush Limaughs website, not the IRS... C'mon, admit it! You fell for a bit of propaganda!
And also: as the deficit sky rockets because of tax cuts, social and public programs are cut. The poorest portion of our community takes advantage of those programs to get whjat they can't pay for (medicine, welfare, WIC, foodstamps, public education, federal college grants). So the 'working poor' have to beg, borrow or steal to get access to those services or looses them entirely, or gets less from them as their public schools degrade- so they end up paying more. It may not be a "Tax increase" but they are paying more to get the standards of living they used to get for less.
