I can't find the study either, just filtered through Herbert's article. The CLMS trail crapped out here.
It hasn't been that hard to dig up one statistic or another that people use to "negate" dozens of other positive statistics. I doubt this will change until the election, no matter how the economy improves.
An interesting page you linked to. I'd love to try and sell the concept of "food insecurity" to people in Africa, where hunger has an entirely different meaning. An exercise: try and locate anyone in America who has starved to death in the past thirty years, other than through some criminal action.
The person who writes it has economic ideas that are, to be charitable, unique. Give everybody in America $25,000. Why didn't I think of that? However, his concern about the results of future advanced automation is a valid one.
I don't judge economic progress by how many people are unionized.
