"I judge economic progress on how many people are doing well. I think the people who are doing the work ought to get the lion's share of the profits, rewarding them for creating wealth by giving them an appropriate share of it. Why don't you?"
You assume that the people punching the clock are doing all the work. Those people who punch the clock could instead start their own business. You are missing all the work required to start and maintain a business. Now, if a union was actually running a company it would either change it's atitude, or simply be put out of business. It's not as though Unions lack the capital to start a business from stratch, but apparently they would rather destroy businesses than actually build them. The fairness is that there should be a free markets which allows people to chose what they want to do- free to just take a job which they spend a fixed amount of time doing something in which they can expect to get a certain amount of money in which they spend spend on whatever they need or want.
