No I wasn't, and that is my own fault.

Honestly Tony, I paid little attention to World affairs in the 1990’s (in the 1980’s I was in High School and College, so I didn’t pay much attention to them back then either, except I kept up with the Soviet Union) It is my own fault. Like many Americans, I isolated myself from the rest of the World.

I knew Saddam was not a nice guy back in 1990, but I had no idea what a monster he really was until recently.

Once Communism fell and the Soviet Union dissolved, I really thought the world was going to come together. We had Russia, Europe, Canada?, Japan? and America working together to build a new space station. I really thought my dream of a united world would happen in my lifetime, and war would be a thing of the past.

Sure, there was China to worry with, but they were showing signs of democracy.

September 11 opened my eyes, big time, that the world is not the peaceful place I thought it was in the 1990’s. In the 1990’s things were okay here in America, so many of us paid little attention to the outside world. We were living in a false sense of security while foes in the Middle East plotted and planned.

It is my own fault. I should have opened my eyes sooner.
