"One shot. One kill."
That's the motto of snipers around the world. Several years ago, I read that the average number of bullets fired by ordinary soldiers using M-16s in Vietnam for each enemy killed was 50,000 compared to roughly 1.3 rounds per kill by snipers. Accuracy counts.
The record long distance sniper kill was by a Canadian in Afghanistan a couple years ago, a confirmed kill at an incredible 2,430 meters using a 50 caliber rifle. Smaller caliber rifles are deadly accurate out to about a kilometer, and virtually all qualified snipers can make those shots.
