re: That's a good question, with, I think, a good answer.

For instance, until CBS came out with the pictures, the public did not know of 6 months of warnings by such as the Red Cross, Amnesty International, and other human rights organizations. It was only after the public became aware that the administration found the acts reprehensible.

I agree. It sickens me that the Executive Branch was slow to act until the release. At that point it became damage control. Ideally as soon as a hint of this stuff was smelled, they should have reassigned all the suspected MPs to gaurd the latrines while a fresh batch were brought in to gaurd the prisoners while the more thourough investigation continued.

Does anybody have a time line of when investigations were started and the arrests and relieving of command happened? I seem to have seen something here on that, but would like to take a closer look.

That the executive branch did not act immediatly, leads me to believe they were either complicit, apathetic, or uninformed. I don't know which at this point, but think it is incumbent on us (through congress) to find out.

I can understand your distrust of congress, but am not willing to throw the baby out with the bathwater yet.

As to this:
First, I believe it's very, very important for the American people to see what happens when the country starts down slippery slopes such as the "Patriot Act" and refuting the Geneva Convention. We start out by thinking of what we're going to do to the other fellow, and do untold damage to ourselves.

I think this is currently happening. The shock of the first set of images served to embarrass and hopefully wake up America. There will be plenty of time to work out the rest in the coming months without further shocking the public with pornographic images. I would like to know what is on the pictures, but don't need to see them personally.

Thanks for the civil response btw.
