I get such a kick out of listening to the Muslim bashing, which I've been guilty of, without the equal exposure of Christian excesses. Did anyone watch Larry King last night with Bill Maher on? Someone phoned in and asked him about his views on Islam and he basically said that today the politically correct thing is to embrace the religious diversity and accept other's beliefs. Well Maher has never been one to be politically correct so he unleashed an attack on all religions and said he's not accepting of people and their childish superstitions. Actually it was refreshing having all religions put into the crosshairs for a change.
I've been reading a book lately called "God" by Alexander Waugh and it's basically a history of all religions, their texts and their evolutions. The primary thing I've gotten out of it was that it's relatively easy to rationalize violence against others based on the teachings of all religions. The passages in the Bible are equally as horrible and cruel as anything the Koran presents. Waught presents it all with great wit and humor and I'd recommend the read to anyone.
