But surely you would agree that as the primary prophets of the respective religions, one was a man of peace and one was not.

Is this problematic, or not?

In the case of Christianity the words and deeds of Jesus do not support the misdeeds of those who behaved badly in the name of god. In the case of Islam, the words and deeds of Mohammed justify nearly anything done in the name of god.
