You bring up some valid points.
No, we have not found what we are looking for- just bits and pieces. Like those banned Iraqi rocket motors that were found in Jordan. Or the 14 chemical shells. Or the documents, or the WMD scientist.
Considering this evidence, Saddam’s history of WMD, and his playing hide and seek with the UN weapons inspectors, people like Donald can not say that WMD did not exist. Saddam used WMD to kill. This is a fact. That alone should be reason enough to oust him.
We know for certain Al Qaeda was in Afghanistan, and only 800 miles separate Iraq from Afghanistan. That is like driving across Texas. Only Iran separated the two countrys, and you can bet they would have an easy time getting through Iran. We also know bin Laden and Saddam were contacting each other between 1996 and 1997. There is other evidence showing there was a link between the two, as admitted by the 9/11 commission.
This war was about keeping Saddam from becoming a danger to the free world with WMD. I think we have accomplished that.
He was a danger to the world before the First Gulf War. America knocked him down. Then the UN took over and they took his money and turned a blind eye. During that time, he thumbed his nose at America while he continued to have his pilots violate the no-fly-zone. In fact, there were a few skirmishes were missiles were fired back when Clinton was president.
Then when he is supposed to come clean about WMD, he can’t account for it all (Like the shells we have found, or the rocket motors in Jordan.
We stopped him from becoming a danger. We stopped him from causing any future 9/11’s to the free world. He was a danger- he is no more.
I am afraid you may be right about WMD finding their way across the border. Saddam might have smuggle much of it out before the war, but I think much of it has been sold for scrap, like those banned rocket motors, by poor and desperate Iraqis.
Donald is full of it when he says this war is about WMD that never existed.
