I just got my first scope last month. ITs an Orion SpaceProbe 130 EQ Reflector.
I bought it used from a friend who is wanting to upgrade. I've taken it out a few times and gotten a hold of some beginner books. Unfortunatly I got it at a time when there aren't any planets or even the moon visible. I guess it gives me time to learn how to navigate the sky until the planets start showing up again. :)
I'm really a newbie with all this stuff, but luckily it came with a few different lenses and a moon filter, to play with. Unfortunatly the CD with "The Sky" software was scratched and won't install. I know I've seen some other alternatives on the web though.
Looking forward to some cold nights in October.
Any helpful advice for a newbie learning his way around the sky?
