The only "Christian" values that matter are the ones that regulate sexual behaviors.
If the Republican party were more consistent about its application of Christian values (ATTENTION: NO QUOTES), there would be a lot more attention to the Sermon on the Mount in the Republican approach to poverty and justice.
But it isn't, so it doesn't.
I want to see religion treated by everyone with a lot less cynical manipulation for political purposes. Currently, the Republicans are the ones who play the religion card most for political advantage, and then manage to ignore the attached ethics in inconvenient area$.
The Democrats are not angels. They're not seeking Constitutional amendments to support sectarian beliefs while courting money that comes from sources that are anathema to those same beliefs, either.
Consistency: that's all I ask.
