Global carbon monoxide animations

Go to the following website:

http://www.atmosp.physics.utoronto.ca/MOPITT/movies.html

Scroll down to "Pacific Ocean MPEG Movie" and click the link. An Mpeg movie will down load. You can view the movie with Xine or Mpeg_play if your won't play it automatically (both codes are open source and can be downloaded from the web).

The movie that you will see is from the MOPITT instrument on board the Terra Satellite. See http://www.atmosp.physics.utoronto.ca/MOPITT/home.html for more details.

Note these huge carbon monoxide plumes suddenly appearing from China. These plumes dwarf everything else on the planet. Are these plumes coming from the burning coal fields or is it simply due to burning old rice paddies? These movies make a mockery out of the Kyoto Accord.
