Unfortunately.

Sorry about your experience. And sorrier that this is as good as it gets. More people, more cars, far less road construction. And it goes on.

A sad thing is all the cars with only one person in them.

Mass transit has to be reworked so as to offer more room, privacy. Unfortunately, conservatives are in love with SUVs and dislike "mass" transit. I think it's the "mass", the implication it's for the average person, that "gets" 'em. It can't be for superior folks such as themselves and therefore not a wise thing upon which to spend money.

Interestingly enough, with a bicycle and the nearby mass transit, I can get to anywhere in the metro area near where I live rapidly and conveniently. However, buses, light rail and bikes aren't for everyone.

And a bike is a way to work the system. For example, my sister became ill, and got one of those "Disabled" parking permits. As soon as she could. It was fun to point out that the bike racks are closer to the door than the handicapped parking.

As a bike rider, one of these days I'm going to be chasing someone down and shoving that cell phone up their exhaust.

Oh, well. Thanks for the rant. I think we've all at least thought we've had the same rotten experiences. Hit home.
