"Recalling that its resolution 678 (1990) authorized Member States to use all necessary means to uphold and implement its resolution 660 (1990) of 2 August 1990 and all relevant resolutions subsequent to resolution 660 (1990) and to restore international peace and security in the area,"
It's easy to deny provocation if you ignore all Iraq's history from about 1980 on.
Kurd genocide with chemical weapons
Shia genocide and destruction of their habitat
Known nuclear and biological weapons programs
100s of thousands in mass graves
children's prisons
Continuing degradation of compliance with UN and Nuclear Inspections
Never fully complying with inspections (always stalling)
The invasion of Kuwait
financing terrorists in Israel
Terrorist training camps in Iraq
No not a shred of justification or provocation there, is there? It's a sorry set of morals and world institutions that would not consider these justifications. All the claims of never letting something like the jewish genocide happen again mean nothing to the likes of the UN, France, or apparently you. Sorry Raoul, but there is no way you will convince me ignoring that stuff is "the right thing to do". As far as I'm concerned the US has blood on its hands for ignoring these things in the past and the only reason we don't deserve world wide condemnation for it is the fact that we are the main force that has ever bothered to stop this kind of thing.

Mark
