You keep spouting nonsense about the effectiveness of UN sanctions when there were no inpsectors in Iraq for years until Bush started to show he was serious about using force. You also ignore the multi-billion dollar scandal about how Saddam enriched himself and UN employees going around sanctions. You have yet to ever face these facts or the fact of France's complicity in weakening sanctions over the past decade. Every time Clinton tried to react strongly to Saddam's interference and failure to abide by UN resolutions France blocked effective action in the security council. When you can be honest enough to admit these things I'll regain my respect for your opinion.
As for Iraq not attacking the US you have yet to answer why we should have gotten involved in removing Germany from France When Germany didn't attack us. When you can answer that in a way that does not also justify attacking Iraq you might have a point. I've said many times why I think it is a responsibility of those that can stop great wrongs to do it and not set idly by with the lame excuse it's not my problem. I find that attitude morally reprehensible. Your attitude justifies all the inactions against genocide over the past decades which I am thoroughly disgusted with.
On a lesser point you statement is just flat out wrong about Iraq not attacking the US. Iraq routinely fired upon US airplanes doing their duty by UN resolutions patrolling no fly zones. It doesn't justify a full scale war like the other items listed earlier do, but it does show how factually inaccurate you are.

Mark
