I'm libertarian, but wouldn't give the aforementioned pimple for the Libertarian Party, an oxymoronic concept if ever I heard one.
A presidential candidate that actually had good ideas for America could never get elected, because the first thing he would point out is that the Free Lunch isn't going to work any more.
On my worst days I realize democracy was shot in this country the second they started allowing citizens to vote money out of other citizens' pockets and into their own. No politician, Democrat or Republican, could stand in the way of that gravy train and survive an election. Almost our entire future debt in this country is the result of sheer wealth redistribution to buy votes.
Meanwhile, there is one dead-on certainty. On November 8th, either Bush or Kerry will be president.
Realistically, you'd better decide which one is better than the other. Third parties don't stand a chance, and the two main parties have done their best for decades to make sure they never do. If you don't want to vote, stay home.
If you're right, and most Democrats really didn't like Gore, but just fought like hell just to keep Bush out of office, then their entire party is a philosophical void as well. Of course, I knew that years ago.
