re: The scream could remind one of Howard Dean.

Gore wanting the government to interpret peoples intentions, as they voted, was dangerous territory to enter. Especially when his side started saying that since one of the county was very liberal, all those people didn’t really mean to vote for Buchanan. And then trying to determined the chads by the way they were punched.

I don’t know about others, but I don’t want the government to start interpret how I intend to vote.

I hope we never go through that again.

Nixon, on the other hand, forsaw how doing a recount would tear the country apart- and he was right. The Nixon/Kennedy race was so close. Had LBJ not gotten all those dead Texans to vote for his boss, then Nixon would have surly won. Had they done recounts in Texas, the dead Texan vote might have come to light.

But Nixon did the right thing. He did not want to tear the country apart. And people say he was bad because a couple of his guys broke into the Democrat headquarters.
