The "peace" in both Iraq and Afghanastan is not going very well.
And the Iraq "peace" grows worse daily with more and more support going to the various groups of insurgents. There is no ready, in place policy to either united the dissident factions or stabalize these volatile populations.
We are the unwitting participants in "a continuation of politics by other means." And we lack the leadership to be able to gracefully get us out of the quagmire we find ourselves in.
Bush's "Bring it on!" is no solution, in fact it is turning into a disaster. And the disaster is not only for US but also for the Iraqis that welcomed us and supported our helping to remove Saddam.
Some months ago I said Bush will follow the Republican mantra of Richard Nixon by declaring victory and running home.
Until some Republican strategist articulates an actual policy by which we can achieve pease, this appears to be the best course.
