The most pervasive myth the Democrats have been trying to sell is the idea that this war wasn't "planned." That if we had a "plan," that all would have been well.
Hell, what war was? Can I see a copy of the Official Plan for WWII, drafted in 1941? How close did we stick to that over the next few years? Did anything change? Did some unforeseen factors show up? Did the enemy do things we didn't want them to, or that were unexpected?
In fact, we did go into this war with a plan. Some of it panned out, including saving much of the infrastructure, reducing civilian casualties, taking Saddam's army out of action, preventing destruction of dams and oil fields, and other things. Other things obviously did not pan out, and tactics have been changing on the fly. That's how it works.
You win a war by fighting until you win. If you don't, the other guy wins. I think Bush understands this. I don't think Kerry ever will.
I can see a certain mindset that believes warfare is figured out in committee meetings, but that isn't how it happens.
