Whether they are natural caused, or man-made, drastic climatic changes will cause death and destruction. As things settle down, certain areas of the Earth will be more habitable than others. This has happened in the past many times.
If the human race wants to start controlling our climate, I think we can do it. We’ll need space based tools, like mirrors, lenses and solar shades, but more importantly we’ll need a lot more knowledge than we do now. We are getting better with our weather predictions, but they are wrong about as often as they are right. We can’t go screwing with our climate until we have a much deeper understanding on how our climate and weather works. This is why I think Venus is a good planet to experiment on.
Anyway, I don’t see anything like this happening in the near future. But imagine being able to control our climate. Global Warming and Ice Ages would be a thing of the past. We could stop floods, droughts and dangerous storms.
In the meantime, we do need to be as clean a race as possible, and IMO, we need to wean ourselves from fossil fuels.
