The 9/11 attacks did about a trillion dollars worth of damage to the US economy...

when you factor in the slowdown to the economy, the depressed stock market and other factors. According to some reports, about a million jobs were lost as a result. That's not exactly a trivial point, especially to those who lost their jobs regardless of where they live.

Do I worry about a terrorist attack where I live? Not particularily, but then, one of the biggest targets of the Cold War (Cheyenne Mountain, NORAD Headquarters) is within easy view of my home and workplace. Being targeted is nothing new to me.

However, if there is another major terrorist attack, then the economic impact will reach me just as the last one did. While I didn't personally know anyone killed in the attacks, who is to say that the next one might not kill someone I know. For what it's worth, one of my neighbors was in the Pentagon when it was hit. Fortunately, he was on the other side of the building.

I noticed that you used the British/Canadian spelling for "colour". If you're not an American, what business is it of yours how we choose to spend our money? Sure, you may wish for us to spend our money on other things, but that's really none of your concern any more than how your country allocates its resources is any of our business.
