Recently, the FBI shot and killed Randy Weaver's wife while she was armed with a small child. The United States wound up paying the despicable bastard something like $6 million. I don't like him, or what he does, and still, they were persecuting him.
Take a look at David Koresh. Small, despised sect. There was the obligatory nonsense about child abuse (NEVER believe your own propaganda) and the FBI burned them to death, prosecuted the others.
Holed up, protecting themselves from what they had perceived as an armed onslaught, there was no need to burn 'em out. But, they were a small, extreme, despised sect.
I think about every society does that. Ain't peculiar to America. However, people who thrive on black-and-white thinking HAVE to believe their country is perfect, or else it's rotten. Truth is, it's neither. But that thinking, of which they are apparently proud, doesn't let them see reality, just idealism.
Right now out "witches", our Japanese of 1942, our alledged "commies" of Joe McCarthy's time, are Muslims.

I agree with you completely. And if one ignores their faults, they are doomed to repeat their mistakes.

- So keeping a supporter of murder and terror out is persecution now?
- Do you even like America?
- Gotta agree with the others on this one Raoul
- He is not Cat Stevens, nor has he been for many years. Why would he revert back to a name he legally dropped? Perhaps because 'Yousef Islam' says a bit more than he wants us to think?
- Save the indignation for something deserving of it
