- Conservatives are trying to prevent you from solving the problem. You have no solution, but somehow they're stopping you from doing it.
- And this is because of corporate profits, delusions about the Second Amendment and the evil government, and NRA donations to compliant politicians.
Now we're supposed to think that gun control wasn't part of your discussion.
I spent a lot of time looking at this problem. I found out that there is no magic wand that can keep a lunatic from finding a weapon and using it to commit mass murder. There is no magic wand to prevent lunatics from existing. No existing or proposed law will keep guns out of the hands of people who don't obey laws. I've followed dozens of lines of reasoning from arming teachers all the way over to complete confiscation of all weapons. All of them have flaws, and many are impossible in this political culture. We are not Japan, and never will be.
If you think about it, there really isn't a lot of difference in outcome between "nothing can be done" and "I have no solutions," is there?
But then politicians don't really have to solve problems, do they? They just have to convince enough voters that they will.
There has been considerable discussion here. It's just not coming to the conclusions you like.
