but.....isn't this pre-emptive strike language the very kind of inflamatory rhetoric that many moderate liberals attribute to conservatives.

I am pointing out what they said and you are telling me what they mean. I can accept that and still maintain that they could have gotten the message across without the hyperbolic language.
