OZ would have to be in Boulder.

I've spent decades hiking in these mountains without a weapon (other than my rock hammer) or a noise-maker (other than my vocal cords). I try to make noise while hiking and I turn around every hundred feet or so to look behind me. Awareness is everything while in the woods.

But after our friend's encounter my wife and I both carry a small boat-horn for the noise and a tall can of pepper spray as a last resort. May wife also carries them during her morning walks in the neighborhood.

Now I have to be alert when feeding the (little) cats. Yikes!
