I do.

I like baseball.

It reminds me of going to the minor league park with my grandpa on summer evenings and watching the fireflies come out in the outfield just before they turned on the lights.

It reminds me of going to the minor league park in a nearby city, now, in the summer, sitting in the general admission bleachers with the sun in my eyes, getting a dollar hot dog and talking to a whole bunch of people I know from my own town who have surprisingly also turned up at the ball game.

It reminds me of the World Series in 1969, when I was in high school and my history teacher had gone to New York to watch the Mets play against the Orioles. It was an afternoon game, and the principal yielded to the inevitable. He dismissed classes to the huge student lounge where about 500 girls sat rivetted to the little TV in one corner, with transistor radios tuned to the ball game in various places throughout the crowd. When the final out was caught -- a ball tipped foul that landed in Cleon Jones's glove, I believe -- we shouted and screamed as if we had been there. Our teacher came back the next day with a big grin on his face and a piece of Shea Stadium in a flowerpot on his desk.

It's not just the game.
