I spent thirty minutes on the NEA site trying to track down the original documentation for that list. The first place I saw it was even goofier than the Schlafly site. I couldn't even locate the original in a cache file, since the newer 2004 documents have overwritten it.
You know damn well I do my best to track all information down to original sources, including many papers and documents that are routinely discussed in mainstream news stories without the slightest link to the original material.
Like I said, if you honestly believe that Schlafly invented that entire list out of her own head instead of copying it off the NEA site a year ago, fine. A year from now the 2004 list I referenced above will also be lost in the ether and you can pretend I made it up, too.
Our educational system is nearly a government monopoly, financed by taxpayers. It would be nice if education was somewhere on the priority list of the people who call the shots at the top, rather than swinging political weight, and pushing for more benefits and larger membership. You see, by the real priorities of the NEA, ten crappy teachers on the union lists are better than two good ones. The violent hostility toward any measurement of outcomes, teacher skills, or educational quality proves this.
