Requesting a recount, under the circumstance, is not stealing an election.
Remember, Gore was the guy who verbally conceeded the election until it was apparent that it was a dead heat. Lucky for Bush, he had a most compliant Fl-SoS to discard the recount. We all know who would've won that one.
He also didn't press the point in the end. When, (sorry to reiterate the issue) a majority of voters were crying foul from the SCOTUS decision. He walked away. Gores not my personal hero but his conduct was, I think, preferable.
