re: Also moving on

Mary Ann, I am sorry you can’t see that getting rid of Saddam, who enslaved and murdered his people, was a good thing. We are giving those people a chance to be free, something they never had under Saddam.

Who are we fighting in Iraq? It is not the Iraq people- it is terrorist. The very people that want us all dead and their own people enslaved under their control.

The Middle East terrorist issue is something the free world can not ignore anymore. Saddam was supporting terrorist. They might not have been bin Laden’s particular group, but they were terrorist. Saddam was a problem that wasn’t going to go away. If we didn’t deal with him now, our children would have to. He wasn’t going away and his sadistic sons would take over eventually.

What I don’t understand is where the Left’s stance on human rights has gone. They used to screen about human rights. Saddam was one of the top human rights violators in the whole world. I would put him in the top three list. How can the Left ignore the horrors he has caused to his own people and his neighbors. And how can the world criticize America for sacrificing our own people to free the Iraqis- Especially when the one shouting the most are countries Americans lost their lives to free.

It is because President Bush was behind it? Why do I get the feeling had President Clinton kicked Saddam out of power, he would be called a hero and a supporter of human rights across the globe.

The Middle East will join the modern world. Freedom will spread from Iraq, Afghanistan and Kuwait to reform the whole region. The environment that breeds these terrorist will be gone, and the World will be a better place, including the Middle East.

I see no difference between Saddam and Hitler, and no difference in Americans sacrificing our lives to free Europe from Nazis, the Middle East from terrorist like Saddam. During the Civil War, Americans died to free the slaves. Colonialist died for the freedom we inherited.

It is unfortunate that the cost of freedom is blood. No, I don’t like it that our solders are being killed. I have a cousin in Iraq and another in Afghanistan. One of my best friend of 22 years is going to Iraq in January. Yes I worry about them and I don’t want them to get killed, but I am proud of them fighting for such a noble cause- to bring freedom to an oppressed people.
