From Beth, who is 23: "What a disappointment! Does she even do anything besides arrange dinner parties? I haven't heard more than two words out of her speaking for herself."

Me: "She hosted some book event at the White House. I can't remember what it was. It was on BookTV a few weeks ago. We could look it up..."

But she is the Perfect Political Wife. Pretty, in a non-threatening way. Well turned out in conservative suits. And above all, silent.

Teresa Heinz Kerry isn't.
