Tom,

This is the first I've heard of this, but her comment "I would rather he be alive, than have all this money" sounds perfectly appropriate to me. She got the money because she was married to him. By stating that, she is countering the Gold-Digger label and showing the devotion she had to her first husband. I don't see how you can logically extend that to her implying John Kerry is a second-rate husband. I'm sure John Kerry understood what she meant and I'd be surprised if he took offense even in private.
