Just to clarify my own position on this, I do not believe the government has the right to force private institutions of learning (or any other private institution) to hire members of particular groups. I don't think they ever did. (I don't think the government has jack shit to say about drug tests in baseball either, but who the hell listens to me?)

The taxpayer funding of some universities, the morality of which is another issue altogether, makes the problem more complicated.

What I see as the important point in these statistics is that if your kid doesn't come out of these colleges as a leftist, it's going to be a miracle of self-discipline and independent thought. There is IMO no appropriate legal remedy for this, but people at least need to approach higher education in America with their eyes open.
