Before the Iraq war

I followed what Rumsfeld was doing with the OSP and Pentegon/military intelligence in the post 9/11 world with curiosity. I suspected (and I even wrote a post here about it) that he was trying to undermine the CIA and congressional over-site by creating replications of the assets of monitored governmental organizations (NRO, NSA and CIA). It seems 2 years later that to coup is complete.

It is a massive wrong that has been done. The political after-math of 9/11 has been turned into long-knives, short-sighted agendas and power grabs instead of fixing the problems that led to it.

I don't believe that this administration is dumb enough to move against Iran. But then I thought that at first about Iraq.

If we do, this will end in an increasingly desperate, ineffectual and pointless occupation for us, and within a decade it will result in the detonation of a nuclear device within the US.

9/11 should have been a wake up call that this was a new global conflict, on a wholly different level than the tests we have previously faced as first a maturing nation and then as a global power. It should have taught us that to fight it we had to adapt. Instead we treat it like something between the cold war and the failed banana-republic-ing of the past century.

The sad thing is, that hords of monkey-do-what-your-tolds sit there and ape whatever is said from on high, and hurl feces at anyone criticising the nacent idiocy.

The clock is running down on America the Superpower, and nobody seems to have the brains to wind it.
