LOL!

"The rules say that you persecute freedom of speech, then you persecute freedom of speech. J. Edgar Hoover was a queer. LBJ shot JFK. The commies won in Vietnam. GWB stole the election. Saddam Hussein had no WMDs. Mars is covered with fossils. NASA is conspiring to withold spectroscopy data from the taxpayers."

Thanks Crank. That quote made my trip back here worthwhile. And get your quotes right - it was Deutschland uber alles. If you're waiting for NASA to discover the secrets of the universe or even to build a better mousetrap, you've got a long wait and a lot to learn. Even arguing about it is a total waste of time. However here you'll never run out of people to argue with. And we can all thank the Nazis for making NASA possible. No V2s - no space program, no moon landing and no robots probing the red planets surface.

Grow up. Realize that most folks are at varying levels of intelligence and have vastly different priorities in their lives. And even if Mars was covered knee-deep in fossils it still won't mean diddly to most folks and it shouldn't mean that much to you.

It's all about escape-mechanisms.

The search for life outside earth is a big escape mechanism. It's no different than the 95 IQ kids watching Avril belt out a song on MTV. Everyone has some channel or outlet as their preferred escape mechanism.

It's used to fill in voids in one's life and balance emotional stresses. Once you realize this you can take an honest look at your life and see why you are so obsessed with mars. Others here could do the same thing. For some its a fear of death thing. They get satisfaction out of imagining humanity surviving and colonizing the red planet. For others its a intellectual inferiority complex that needs satiating. Still others are socially introverted and turn to science or space as an escape mechanism.

Mars is a big, reddish rock floating in space. It really means jack-squat in the scheme of things. Just like this post.
