Hi All
The link between Moon exploration and Mars exploration is tenuous at best as the space-suits alone illustrate. On the Moon astronauts need battle-armour to withstand micrometeorites and the intense day-time heat. On Mars there are NO micrometeorites and astronauts can get by in the skin-suits that have been linked to previously - heck, it's even a fairly reasonable temperature in the day-time.
So enough bullshit about one preparing for the other. Sure similar infra-structure to get there and similar... umm... not much else really. One's day is 28 times the other's, the gravity is half and it's bone-dry regolith metres down versus sopping wet soil a few inches in.
They're different and that's a good thing! One is lovely to visit, but we don't want to stay there, while the other is near to being a home away from home, but a real stretch for mere tourists.
