The Montgomery County District Attorney has said that Bill Cosby will not be charged with sexual assault citing insufficient evidence. Based upon that statement we can either assume the charges were without basis or the crimes were committed so long ago that a criminal investigation can not proceed.
However Bill Cosby has lived an exemplary life which is very unusual for an entertainment industry celebrity. Also there is the principle of "innocent until proven guilty". I see no reason to assume that Cosby engaged in sexual misconduct and have every reason to believe he was the victim of an extortion attempt or the ravings of lunatics. I find it hard to believe this was a political smear. Cosby's comments about being better parents was just common sense. A person would have to be a insanely partisan to justify a politically based criminal conspiracy against Cosby.
Unfortunately I don't think Cosby can be vindicated. It'll always be "She said" versus "He said". Cosby's shining reputation has been besmirched and there is no obvious remedy. Given Cosby's long service as a positive role model, this is a real tragedy.

- I think we need to re-establish statutes of limitation for stuff like this.
