"I'm not at all sure that the Founding Fathers intended the law of the land to be arbitrarily set by what side of the bed five out of nine justices got up on in the morning.
The fact that the same thing can be "constitutional" one day, and "unconstitutional" the next, should make people a bit nervous.
No wonder both Democrats and Republicans sweat bullets over who is going to be on that court. "
Well, instead arresting these punk murderers, you could just accidently shoot them, a dozen times. The purpose of any court is to allow an objective method of determining Justice. If the Justice system does not provide Justice, the people will have a tendency to revert to Mob Justice.
The People are and always have been the Final Arbitrator and the Supremes are suppose to be servants of the People.
But generally speaking I prefer that these murderers rot in jail, the problem is when these murderers are getting parole hearings and can be released. For instance, why the hell does Charles Mason get parole hearing?
"(CBS) Charles Manson, one of America's most notorious mass murderers, was denied parole Wednesday for the 10th time at a hearing before a prison board at Corcoran State Prison in California where he has been jailed for masterminding a bloody 1969 rampage, prison officials said.
His next chance for parole is in the year 2007, said Lt. Johnny Castro, a spokesman at the Corcoran State Prison where Manson is being held about 150 miles north of Los Angeles. "

As far as I'm concerned, Manson no matter whether he will or will not be a threat to the public should stay in prison until he dies [and even do things to ensure he has a very long life]. The assumption seems to be if Manson can be a somewhat decent human being for a couple years, that he should be released??? And why check this guy every few years, why not at least wait 10 years between parole hearing?
Instead of focusing on death penalty, people should focus on keeping the bastards in prison. That Manson get a parole hearing more than once every 10 year is a fucking criminal. Why should the all victims have to have this reoccurring nightmare every few years.
And to pass a parole hearing, I want the murderer walking on water, and other miracles, not merely deemed safe.
I think 90 years in prison is far scary and more of a deterrent than the death penalty. Whereas 5-7 years is nothing- it's a criminal's college degree.
